Back on track

I checked my official unofficial training regime (actually, one proferred by Hal Higdon, who was a marathoner in the 70s) and discovered that despite my angst, I am right on track with my training. This despite my thoughts to the contrary. It is also difficult to remember that my schedule is for what he calls an "Intermediate II" runner, one who has been running, basically, forever. His thought is that a first time marathoner should follow his Beginner schedule. We all know that I couldn't do something called "Beginner", regardless of experience. Kind of like reading the directions. Anyway, yesterday's 6 miles went smoothly enough despite the new snow accumulation. Basically a loopy run through the neighborhoods, it proves that you don't have to go far away from home to get mileage. I wouldn't want to do a marathon over the course but for 6 or even 12, I could make do.

Today is scheduled for 3 and I'll probably just use the treadmill for a change. It allows two things: 1) work up a good sweat and 2) if I want, I can spend another 30-60 minutes on the elliptical. Nothing like overworking to make my anxiety go away. I know I'll probably pay for it but it's New Years Eve - live for the moment.

Be safe and have a great 2010. Until next year...
