A Great Run after a Rest Day - There's a Surprise...

I had a great run Sunday after taking Saturday off.  7 miles at 9:00/mile, while not as fast as I'd like, is the farthest, fastest I've run in a LONG time.  In fact, that was my longest run since my ITB issues last winter.  It was a great day, cool and sunny, with very little breeze.  My route from home is primarily downhill for the first mile, followed by a flat middle, and a final mile (or sometimes two) uphill, a rise of about 200 feet over 2 miles.  It doesn't sound like much but can be a real pain.  The nice part of the run was that the first mile was about a minute per mile slower than the last mile.  I'm generally not as interested in time as I am distance but every once in a while, it's nice to have some validation that my training is improving both my fitness and performance.  Since I am not racing very much (at all), this validation helps the next workout.  That being said, it's hard not to go out and over-train.

As far as the "tease", be patient.  I just need a validation from Ben and then I'll let it out.  You will be disappointed, I assure you, but if you are a parent, and a runner, you will understand.  Stay tuned.

I've talked about the number of viewers of this blog which, by the way, has amazed me.  I am still shocked that anyone other than my mother would ever care.  The other thing that amazes me is the REACH of the blog, as measured by the locations from which the blog is being read.  This week's statistics include readers as follows:

United States
58
France
17
Australia
3
Puerto Rico
2
United Kingdom
1

Thanks to everyone who cares enough (or maybe are simply betting on the date that I keel over) to read this personal therapy.
