Not a whole lot going on lately. The lull between thanksgiving and Christmas, while frantic for many (most?) is generally a difficult time for runners (or at least for me). I'm not yet acclimated to the colder weather. Eating with intelligence is challenging. My mind tells me that I need to run more after eating more (and more often) without getting hurt. I'm not whining. It's just not as easy to work out as it is when the sun is shining and it's 70.
Yesterday was a 7 miler at a hair over 9 minutes per. Not a fast one but it was surprisingly easy. Very little effort and, while that may sound cocky, that's not what I am trying to convey. It just wasn't as hard as it would have been a few months ago. The Great Plains wind was in effect, with gusts up to 30mph, all on the way home. Uphill and wind in your face for the last 3 miles. Poor, poor, pitiful me, right?
Sara told me about a 10 miler in Chicago over Memorial Day, finishing on the 50 yard line of Soldier Field. I'm not sure that is in the plan yet. Sorry Sara. I just haven't decided.
I haven't signed up for the Olathe marathon yet. The thought of training over the winter for an early spring race is not compelling yet, especially as the weather gets crappy. I also want to make sure that I am fit and pain-less in the months prior to the race before I commit my $80.
Off the the gym to elliptical...
