This last week has been like running on eggshells - with every step, I fully expect for my calf to seize again. Every curb, every uphill, every time I happen to go a little faster, every stress point, I have expected something to pop. Today was 4 miles at 8:30, still pretty easy, and at the end of it, nothing popped, nothing felt bad and best of all, I felt pretty good.
The first 2-3 miles of every run feels like crap with every muscle, ligament and tendon giving me a bad time. Interestingly enough, after 3 miles, I'm ready to go. I guess I should just warm up with an easy 3.
Tomorrow is an off day but I will swim again. I find that the swimming is both relaxing and stimulating at the same time. I don't sweat (which I think every workout should cause) but nonetheless, I find it pretty relaxing. Even though I am deceiving myself, I kind of think I am working the upper body a bit when I swim.
This workout stuff can make you crazy...and I'm well on my way.
Sara, you start running yet?
