Snow again...cold but not as cold as this weekend...

Well, dear reader, it's snowing again here in Kansas City. We are expecting 3-5 inches with a blizzard warning for tonight, which means 3 hours of 35+ MPH winds and less than 1/4 mile visibility during that time. Oh, I almost forgot - the forecast for the rest of the week is Thursday 10/-3, Friday 3/-6, Saturday 8/-2 and Sunday 30/24. It looks like Sunday will be my first day outside in a week.

Now, I have a rather perplexing problem that I want to post to ALL of my readers and elicit their knowledgeable input. The topic is sore nipples. That's right, sore nipples. And before anyone accuses me of activities unbecoming a person of my age and position, the nipple issue arose as a result of combination cold weather, prolonged exercise, and a series of shirts that APPARENTLY irritate my precious, oh-so-sensitive nips. No laughing, no snickering, and no snide comments. Only good suggestions. Just so you know, I've tried Vaseline on them (messy and stains my shirts), and band-aids (won't stay stuck due to ethnic-based hairiness). I'm sure there is some commercial SensANip or UdderCare that I haven't found yet. So dear reader, suggestions?

Today's workout was encouraging - 7 miles, all on the treadmill. Boring but made me feel complete. Thanks, Patrick, for the thoughts around treadmill training. I agree that it is as boring as it gets but after going 7 today, I really think I could go another 3 at least before I completely lost my mind. My legs didn't feel bad at all after the first 3 miles but during that first 3, my knees were a little rough around the edges. It's interesting that it now takes me 3 miles (at least) to begin to feel good when not a year ago, 3 miles was about as far as I wanted to go.

Ok, leave your nipple comments on the comment section below. And if you have goofy, childish, immature comments, bring it......

  1. There is a product out there called Body Glide. You can pick it up at any running store. It's like a deodorant stick of waxy substance. Put it anywhere you may chafe. In addition there is a product called Nip Gaurds, also found at any running store. They are small round bandaid like "stickers" that go over your nipples.

    Hope this helps.
