Surprise!!!! It's cold and damp on Kansas City

I don't mean to make this a weather report every day but it sometimes has to be when trying to train here. My apologies will have to suffice.

I took another day off this week due to severe soreness. After running seven Monday, six Tuesday and three on Wednesday, I had some significant stiffness and decided to rest. After 50 years of training, it's hard to take a day off. I really wonder if we don't do our kids and our selves a disservice by not teaching the virtues of rest. And I don't just mean in working out. My kids have a habit of staying up far later than I ever did (of course, they sleep until 3 or 4 in the afternoon like we did) but we continue to tell them that continuous work is a virtue without equally explaining the virtues of relaxation.

Sara, here's a shout out to you (see how cool I am?) - have you started training? I am really looking forward to our RUNNING the half with you in August!

This weekend should be an opportunity for some LSD - long, slow distance. Let's see if I can get there.
